Good morning God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Indeed, is a great day You have made and we are glad to be part of it. We are most grateful unto You Lord, blessed be Your Holy Name for the health of mind and body; Your blessings on all that is pertaining to us.

We invite the sweet Holy Spirit, our teacher to come and reveal the truth about the triune God to us that we may not fall by the wayside as those who walked in ignorance of this truth in the time past. Our knowledge in the things of God will not bring condemnation to us but rather we shall be blessed by the possession of true knowledge in the Word of God.

What really is the problem of many in acquisition of this knowledge? Is it ignorance or that we know too much. Join me today to discover the truth about these facts. Consider further:

Is It Possible To Be Highly Knowledgeable And Yet Remain Ignorant Of The Truth

Paul thought so as he observed the religious practices of his day. They are “always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothy 3:7)

That being the case, let me suggest three reasons as to how this is possible:

1. We are learning too much

Information overload.

Because knowledge spells power and survival, we are continually packing our minds with new information and knowledge. We err, however, if we assume the Holy One will be known in such fashion.

Spiritual truth is revealed to us by the Spirit in moments of quiet and unhurried reflection and contemplation. The seeming slowness of that process is often difficult for us to accept, especially if we are conditioned to stuffing in knowledge through condensed articles, tapes, and other forms of mini information bites.

2. We are learning the wrong “stuff ”

Much of what we learn lies outside the boundaries of God’s intended knowledge for us, thus polluting the inner springs of our soul.

“I want you to be wise in that which is good, and innocent in what is evil.” (Romans 16:19b)

3. We are hindered in our learning by our pride

In their blinding arrogance, the Jews and Greeks demanded of God that He package His truth through the medium of attesting miracles and human wisdom:

“For indeed Jews ask for signs, and Greeks search for wisdom.” (1 Corinthians 1:22)

In response however to their obdurate conceit, God reminded them that He would only be known through humility and brokenness:

“Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become foolish (literally: a “moron”) that he may become wise.” (1 Corinthians 3:18b)

So today, if you sense you are lacking in your knowledge of the God of truth, it may be well to reassess what you are learning and how or perhaps one of our problems is that we know too much. Let us consider what that can also do to us:

INFORMATION OVERLOAD: Exposure to an endless array of tapes, sermons, books, articles, seminars, and Christian radio.

Why is it that with all this information at our fingertips our lives are often out of joint, our marriages strained, and victory over sin remains an illusive ideal?

For one thing, we wrongly assume that knowledge of the truth will change our lives, when in reality it only heightens our awareness, and increases our guilt.

Surprisingly, the Scriptures suggest that exposure to too much knowledge may actually be ruinous:
• “In much wisdom there is much grief, and increasing knowledge results in increasing pain.” (Ecclesiastes 1:18)
• “The writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearing to the body.” (Ecclesiastes 12:12)
• “Always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothy 3:7)

So what is missing? Consider Hebrews 4:2:

“For indeed we have had the good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them because it was not united by faith in those who heard.”

Exposure to the truth is of no value to us unless that truth is translated into faith as evidenced by obedience. For three years Judas Iscariot lived with the Truth, but ended his life in suicide. Familiarity with the Truth without application spelled personal destruction.

James reminds us to:

“Prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.” (James 1:22)

So, our problem lies not in the fact that we need more truth. Rather, we simply need to respond in faith and obedience to the truth we already possess!

If you agree with us let us know but if otherwise still get back to us and the Holy Spirit of God will guide us into all truth.

Remain blessed in the Lord.
