To glory of God today we will be discussing another prayer general Who pray for someone to be great. This particular prayer is dear to my heart because this general did not pray for himself rather he invested his time praying for another to succeed in his ministry.

Beloveth is good to know that we all call into the ministry of intercession and we must continue to pray until we breakthrough as we can later in our discussion today.

We will be considering how Dr. Wilbur Chapman was impacted by the prayers an old man and his team in the church where he was sent to pastor as a young pastor in Philadelphia.

How important is faithfulness in prayer? Dr. Wilbur Chapman often told of his experience when, as a young man, he went to become a pastor in a church in Philadelphia.

After his first sermon, an old man said to him, “You are too young to be a pastor in this church. But you are preaching the Gospel, and I will help you as long as I can.” Dr Chapman thought, “Now, this is a trap.” But the man said, “I will pray for you so that you have the power of the Holy Spirit. Two other people have agreed to join me to pray for you.”

Dr. Chapman said, “I felt nothing when he said that he would pray for me. But then three people became 10 people, 10 people become 20 people, 20 people become 50 people, 0 people become 200 people. They gather before each service- and prayed that the Holy Spirit would come to me. I always climbed on stage feeling that I would have anointing as an answer to the prayers of those who had faithfully prayed for me. What a joy to preach! The result was that 1100 people repented and joined our church, 600 of whom were men! This is the fruit of the Holy Spirit in the answer to prayer!”

Devotion :

God gives us the task to pray for Spirit leaders and servants of God. have we ever realized that our prayers for their ministry could result in the repentance of souls? Let us continue to persevere and support in prayer for spiritual leaders and servants of God and souls will be harvested for God’s glory.

God shaped the world from prayers. The more prayers in the world the better this world, the stronger the power to oppose the evil one. (E.M.Bounds)

“Brethren, pray for us.” 1 Thessalonians 5:25

This one morning in the year we reserved to refresh the reader’s memory upon the subject of prayer for ministers, and we do most earnestly implore every Christian household to grant the fervent request of the text first uttered by an apostle and now repeated by us.

Brethren, our work is Solemnly momentous, involving weal or woe to thousands; we treat with souls for God on eternal business, and our word is either a savour of life unto life, or of death unto death. A very heavy responsibility rests upon us, and it will be no small mercy if at the last we be found clear of the blood of all men.

As officers in Christ’s army, we are the especial mark of the enmity of men and devils; they watch for our halting, and labour to take us by the heels. Our sacred calling involves us in temptations from which you are exempt, above all it too often draws us away from our personal enjoyment of truth into a ministerial and official consideration of it.

We meet with many knotty cases, and our wits are at a non plus; we observe very sad backslidings, and our hearts are wounded; we see millions perishing, and our spirits sink. We wish to profit you by our preaching; we desire to be blest to your children; we long to be useful both to saints and sinners; therefore, dear friends, intercede for us with our God.

Miserable men are we if we miss the aid of your prayers, but happy are we if we live in your supplications. You do not look to us but to our Master for spiritual blessings, and yet how many times has He given those blessings through His ministers; ask then, again and again, that we may be the earthen vessels into which the Lord may put the treasure of the gospel.

We, the whole company of missionaries, ministers, city missionaries, and students, do in the name of Jesus beseech you

“Brethren, Pray for us.”

Beloveth, are you with me, have you seen any reason to pray not just for yourself but also for others especially those in the place of authority over us. May God help us to see the need to pray for our spiritual leaders even our secular leaders that the Holy Spirit will help them to do the mind of God always.

We must stand in the gap for our spiritual leaders, praying for them so that souls will be drawn into the kingdom of God, overcome the evils in our world today and to help them to overcome evil with good in Jesus Name.

Beloveth, let us pray obeying this verse of the scripture in Eph 6:18. Begin to pray and supplicate in the Spirit, and watching therefore with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Father, You are the Giver of all answers to our prayers, answer us again as we pray, realize your Spirit on us and let Your light shine on us and make us a worthy instruments in Your Hand in Jesus Name.

We beseeches thee Brethren, to “PRAY FOR US” that the work entrusted in our hands will prosper and be fruitful in Jesus Name.

Remain blessed in the Lord.
