The Universe Proclaims

The heavens declare the glory of God.—Psalm 19:1

We must endeavor, in line with our Master’s directive in the Lord’s Prayer, to focus our gaze on the majesty of God. The greater the degree in which God becomes fixed in our gaze, the more realistically we will be able to evaluate the events that go on around us here on earth.

In today’s passage the psalmist tells us that one way we can focus on the greatness of God is to consider His handiwork in creation. All around us in this wonderful world, we see evidences of His sublime sufficiency. Consider, for example, the vastness of the universe. Scientists tell us that in relation to the myriads of other celestial bodies in outer space, the planet we inhabit is like a tiny speck of dust in a huge railway station in relation to all the other specks of dust around it, or like a single grain of sand among all the sand on all the seashores of the world. They tell us also that if the earth were to fall out of its orbit and spin away into space, it would create no more disturbance than the dropping of a pea into the Pacific Ocean!

Such word pictures, inadequate as they are, do nevertheless help us form some idea of the greatness and power of our God. Who can meditate on the vastness of the universe without experiencing an expansion in their conception of the majesty of God? Why did God construct the universe on such a grand scale? My conclusion is: He did it to show us that He is gloriously sufficient, unchangingly adequate, and abidingly faithful. How wonderful to contemplate such creative enormity!

Prayer

God, what a fool I am to think that my resources might run dry. Help me to live in light of the fact that my demand will never exceed Your supply. You are the Enough. Amen.

How did Jesus focus our attention on God’s goodness?

Of whom does the psalmist give us a picture?

Indeed our God is more than enough. He is our sufficiency. He is more than we can ever need or ever ask for. Our God is more than what we call Him.

Beloved, as we take off the week on this note; may you see the mightiness of God in every sphere of your life and cares of this life. May He be sufficient for you to run through and through and at the end of the week your testimony will be more than full to worship His Holy Name forever and ever in Jesus Name. I receive in Jesus Name!

Praise the Name of the Lord!!!!!

Remain blessed in the Lord.
