Glory Glory Alleluia! Praise the Lord, The One Who watches over us, He lead and guide us in the way we should go, He hasten to perform His Word in our lives. He is never tried and will never be tried of us. He is our Redeemer, the one that truly saves. Come on, give Him p-r-a-i-s-e. Alleluia!

Beloved, you are welcome in the presence of the Almighty. Today, we will be considering a very important aid to our Christian journey without which the journey will be clumsy, not interesting, probably boring and tiring “Searching the Scriptures”.

In observing human make up and dispositions, it has been discovered that they functions better in the area of relaxation than serious activities. Last two weeks, we mentioned about the warring between the flesh (mind) and the soul (Spirit) (click here to read the said message). Studies also has shown that children given the same time, will play without getting tried than in studying their books and other chores. The great news is that the adults, who frowns at that, do the same when it comes to searching and meditating on the Word and in carrying out kingdom businesses.

They can afford to keep busy at work and every other activities other than reading and studying the Bible. Do you know that the some individuals who reads all the dailies including watching all the TV channels both local and foreign starts snoring immediately they picks up the bible to read or watching the same on television.

God instructed the parents to impress His Word on their children, teach and bind same on their forehead. Write it on the doorframes of their houses (Deut 6:7-9). God also told Joshua to study and be careful to do all that is written therein so as to live and have good success (Jos 1:8). In second Timothy (2 Tim 2:15) Timothy was admonished on the need to study the Word and in 1Tim 4:16, Paul told him to watch his live and the doctrine closely so that he will save his own live and that of his hearers.

In Psalms 78, God is also making the same appeal to us, to teach our children and tell them all He had done in the past (Please read the psalms for more understanding). Beloved, you can only instruct on what you know or have understanding on. Until you read the Word of God, you will not gain understanding. The knowledge gained through the studying of the Word will be pass-on to your children or hearers. That is what will inspire you to search the scripture further for either promises or deeds or miracles wrought by God and aid you to live a worthy and a life pleasing to your Maker.

What is the cause of this malady and how can we curb such vices should interest us as that is only way the journey of life will become interesting and rewarding. Come let us read through the message below and gain some insight:

Search the Scriptures.” John 5:39

The Greek word here rendered search signifies a strict, close, diligent, curious search, such as men make when they are seeking gold, or hunters when they are in earnest after game. We must not rest content with having given a superficial reading to a chapter or two, but with the candle of the Spirit we must deliberately seek out the hidden meaning of the word.

Holy Scripture requires searching—much of it can only be learned by careful study. There is milk for babes, but also meat for strong men. The rabbis wisely say that a mountain of matter hangs upon every word, yea, upon every title of Scripture. Tertullian exclaims, “I adore the fulness of the Scriptures.” No man who merely skims the book of God can profit thereby; we must dig and mine until we obtain the hid treasure. The door of the word only opens to the key of diligence.

The Scriptures claim searching. They are the writings of God, bearing the divine stamp and imprimatur—who shall dare to treat them with levity? He who despises them despises the God who wrote them. God forbid that any of us should leave our Bibles to become swift witnesses against us in the great day of account. The word of God will repay searching. God does not bid us sift a mountain of chaff with here and there a grain of wheat in it, but the Bible is winnowed corn—we have but to open the granary door and find it.

Scripture grows upon the student. It is full of surprises. Under the teaching of the Holy Spirit, to the searching eye it glows with splendour of revelation, like a vast temple paved with wrought gold, and roofed with rubies, emeralds, and all manner of gems. No merchandise like the merchandise of Scripture truth.

Lastly, the Scriptures reveal Jesus: “They are they which testify of Me.” No more powerful motive can be urged upon Bible readers than this: he who finds Jesus finds life, heaven, all things. Happy he who, searching his Bible, discovers his Saviour.

Jesus is the way, the truth and life. You discovery is possible on in studying and searching  the Scripture, not in the knowing or hearing of the same.

“They are they which testify of Me.” John 5:39

Jesus Christ is the Alpha and Omega of the Bible. He is the constant theme of its sacred pages; from first to last they testify of Him. At the creation we at once discern Him as one of the sacred Trinity; we catch a glimpse of Him in the promise of the woman’s seed; we see Him typified in the ark of Noah; we walk with Abraham, as He sees Messiah’s day; we dwell in the tents of Isaac and Jacob, feeding upon the gracious promise; we hear the venerable Israel talking of Shiloh; and in the numerous types of the law, we find the Redeemer abundantly foreshadowed.

Prophets and kings, priests and preachers, all look one way—they all stand as the cherubs did over the ark, desiring to look within, and to read the mystery of God’s great propitiation. Still more manifestly in the New Testament we find our Lord the one pervading subject. It is not an ingot here and there, or dust of gold thinly scattered, but here you stand upon a solid floor of gold; for the whole substance of the New Testament is Jesus crucified, and even its closing sentence is bejewelled with the Redeemer’s name.

We should always read Scripture in this light; we should consider the word to be as a mirror into which Christ looks down from heaven; and then we, looking into it, see His face reflected as in a glass—darkly, it is true, but still in such a way as to be a blessed preparation for seeing Him as we shall see Him face to face. This volume contains Jesus Christ’s letters to us, perfumed by His love. These pages are the garments of our King, and they all smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia.

Scripture is the royal chariot in which Jesus rides, and it is paved with love for the daughters of Jerusalem. The Scriptures are the swaddling bands of the holy child Jesus; unroll them and you find your Saviour. The quintessence of the word of God is Christ.

Seek Him and yea shall find Him when you diligently seek Him with all your heart. Someone is promising to be studious more than ever before as a result of the unveiling the truth in the Word of God, and am sure you are the one.

Thank God for Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path (Ps 119:107; 89; 11; 34; 97- 104; 130; 133; 165). Word have hidden in my heart that I may not sin against you. Holy Spirit of God help our understanding as we open the Scripture beam Your light upon it and reveal to us the Hidden treasures in the Word.

Praise the Lord! You are blessed beyond measure. Amen!

Remain blessed in the Lord.
