What manner of person ought to be? Does it send some question cross your mind? Like computer, are booting thorough your hard disk (heart) to respond? Don’t worry, you will discover mystery behind this and surely you will be blessed. Praise God!

Our second message is like the first, “are you busy at church and sterile in work place?” Come and join us as we take a ride:

What Manner of Person Ought You to Be?

Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, [it is clear] what sort of people you should be in holy conduct and godliness—2 Peter 3:11

When God told Abraham He was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham’s life was immediately and radically affected. Noah could not carry on business as usual once he knew what God was planning for his generation. Knowing that God is preparing judgment brings a sobering reality to Christians, helping us recognize what is eternally significant and what is not.

Peter cautions us that a catastrophic time of judgment is coming. On the day of the Lord there will be a great noise, and the elements will melt with a fervent heat. On that day, he warns, the earth will be consumed.

Peter assures us that this is not mere speculation; it is certain and imminent. He then asks the crucial question that applies to each generation: “What kind of persons ought you to be?” With judgment pending for us and countless millions of people facing destruction, how should we live our lives?

Many Christians attach great value to temporal things. Hobbies and possessions consume us, leaving little time or energy to invest in what is eternal. More than anyone else, Christians should be sensitive to the times in which we live. We should walk so closely with God that if He were preparing to bring judgment upon people, we could warn those in imminent peril.

Since Christ has been long-suffering in His return so that no one might perish (2 Pet. 3:9), should we not invest our effort in building God’s eternal kingdom? Should there not be an urgency about us to complete the tasks that God gives us?

Let’s get going:

Busy At Church — Sterile In The Workplace

The true test of your walk with god is not necessarily determined by how involved or dedicated you are within the confines of your local church, noble as your service there may be.

Rather, the test may center in the rough and tumble climate of the “marketplace” where greed, seduction, power games, and Machiavellian pragmatism commonly prevail. It is into this environment that the Master Strategist has undoubtedly placed you to affect lives for His glory.

My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil oneIpray for those who will believe in Me through their word.” (John 17:15, 20)

If you happen to be a hands-on achiever who is bent on getting “results” (profit, efficiency, visibility, image, timing, etc.) you daily face the temptation of using people as pawns and bending ethical and moral absolutes.

In this high voltage setting of the marketplace, Jesus can easily be pushed into a servile role at the fringes of your operation, only to be called upon in moments of crisis.

If, in this environment you still entertain aspirations of fruitfulness among your colleagues, there needs to be a funeral.

Yours!

Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” (John 12:24)

Only then will you be able to allow the very life of Christ to help you achieve your professional goals in a manner that is compatible with Biblical values.

One way many business and professional men and women rationalize their ineffectiveness at ministering in the marketplace is by busying themselves in service behind the less threatening walls of the church.

Ironically, the folks at work may see scant evidence in them of the life of Jesus, while the brethren at church may view them as dedicated saints!

QUESTION: How do you think your marketplace colleagues view you?

We are starting the week with a question, what is your answer to it? How effective are you outside the four walls of the church? Do you have tracts in bags or wallet to give to those you come encounter with?

Beloved, this week is declared blessed in Jesus Name. Go and do exploits for the Lord, receive your testimony as the day go by.

Remain blessed in the Lord.
