The topic we have today…. is another powerful one… learning to wait on the Lord… how easy to say I am waiting for my mother, she is coming… after school to take me home… or I am waiting for my friend we are going somewhere in the next two hours…. Here comes this one most people dare… I am “waiting” on God… for a life partner, babies, Job, admission, healing, and deliverance… hummmh.

The surprising thing here is that you don’t know how it will come or happen… maybe you have been married for ten to fifteen years, no baby…. You have clocked forty-five years, no suitor… you have graduated five years ago, no good Job… and so on… anxiety begin to set in… You are wondering when will it be?… How is it going to be?

The fear of the unknown is the greatest fear in waiting… but why do God want us to wait? Why won’t He go ahead and answer our prayers? Why won’t I just get healed? Why can’t I land a good Job that will deliver all my dreams in my hands?

Beloveth… there is something I read some where… and it says… “Will you still remember God when you receive all you have prayed for?” I think that is the basic reason why God make us to wait… Is it only needs that draw us closer to God and each time the needs are solve… off we go… until one need arises again…

Come alone with us to discover why God make us to wait…

Learning To “Wait” On The Lord

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.” (Psalm 130:5, 6) (See Psalm 5:3; 130:5-7; 17:14; 37:7, 34; 38:15; 119:84)

“WAIT” (Author Unknown)

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried: Quietly, patiently, lovingly God replied. I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate, and the Master who gently said, “Child, you must wait.”

“Wait?” You say, wait!,” my indignant reply. “Lord, I need answers, I need to know why! Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard? By faith, I have asked, and am claiming your Word.

“My future and all to which I can relate hangs in the balance, and You tell me to wait? I’m needing a ‘yes’ a go-ahead sign, or even a ‘no’ to which I can resign.

“And Lord, You promised that if we believe we need but to ask, and we shall receive. Lord, I’ve been asking, and this is my cry: I’m weary of asking! I need a reply!”

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate, as my Master replied once again, “You must wait.” So, I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut, and grumbled to God, “So, I’m waiting… for what?”

He seemed, then, to kneel, and His eyes wept with mine, and He tenderly said, “I could give you a sign. I could shake the heavens, and darken the sun. I could raise the dead, and cause mountains to run.

“All you ask me I could give, and pleased you would be. You would have what you want – but, you wouldn’t know Me. You’d not know the depth of My love for each saint: You’d not know the power that I give to the faint.

“You’d not learn to see through the clouds of despair: You’d not learn to trust just by knowing I’m there; you’d not know the joy of resting in Me when darkness and silence were all you can see.

“You’d never experience that fullness of love, as the peace of My Spirit descends like a dove; you’d know that I live and I save… (for a start), but you’d not know the depth of the beat of My heart.

“The glow of My comfort late into the night. The faith that I give when you walk without sight. The depth that’s beyond getting just what you asked of an infinite God, who make what you have last.

“You’d never know, should your pain quickly flee, what it means that ‘My grace is sufficient for Thee.’ Yes, your dreams for your loved one overnight would come true. But, Oh, the loss! If I lost what I’m doing in you!

So, be silent, my child, and in time you will see that the greatest of gifts is to get to know Me. And though oft may My answers seem terribly late. My most precious answer of all is still, wait.‘”

Beloveth… I am dumbfounded… yesterday we discussed about intimacy and immediacy… God desires fellowship with us… He desires that we have fellowship with Him… 24/7/ round the clock… sometime this has been misinterpreted… some think is praying round the clock…no not at all, it means living in consciousness of God’s Awesome Presence… Yes!

I just read something that touched my spirit-man in the piece above… “You’d not learn to trust just by knowing I’m there; you’d not know the joy of resting in Me when darkness and silence were all you can see.

Beloveth this is powerful…. It sent a shivering to my body… “Just trusting God knowing that He is there….”

Do you remember our father Abraham who the Bible recorded that “Who against hope believe in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, so shall Thy seed be…. Rom.4:8 Alleluia!!!…

May God help us beloveth… to trust God beyond all what our eyes can see… Yes! Do you still remember the definition of “Faith”…. Open your Bible Heb.11:1- we are going to consider three versions of the Bible that is striking for me…

Hebrews 11:1 (MontgomeryNT)1

Now faith is the title-deed of things hoped for; the putting to the proof of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:1 (CSBBible)
1  Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Beloveth… did you read that “Faith” is a title-deed?

Did you also read that “Faith” is a “Reality” and a “Proof”?

What about this one…. “Faith is a “Substance” and “Evidence.”

Hummmh… a title-deed… by definition is a legal right to property or anything it is issued for… so when you trust God for something, in exchange you receive a title deed from heaven which will eventually ensure that you get that… Praise God…

Faith stands for reality and the proof that God will surely come through for you… in that which you are trusting and believing Him for… alleluia!!!

This one also hit me… faith which is an intangible is referred to as a substance…. Something you can feel… wow!!! and evidence of things you hope for….

So beloveth… faith is the vehicle that will take you through the ride of waiting…. did you notice my use of word… ‘ride’ and ‘waiting’?

Who ride while waiting…. shock you… beloveth… waiting like I said earlier has be misinterpreted … waiting does not signify “stagnant”… I think we have taught that some time ago… it does mean you are motionless… you are not doing or learning new things… you may be doing of thess and more but until God to give a signal of moving forward…nothing seem to work…

Beloveth my prayer for us is that we will begin to see God… through the “eye” of Faith… going forward in Jesus Name… Praise the Name of the Lord… Alleluia!!!
